Charmouth West Beach is a mixed sand and shingle beach renowned for its fossil hunting opportunities along the Jurassic Coast. Dog Tips

Dogs are welcome off lead from October 1st to April 30th. From May 1st to September 30th, dogs are not allowed on West Beach. Dogs must be on leads at all times in all car parks and footpaths around the beach. Be aware of cliff falls and mudslides, and check tide times to avoid being cut off. Recall is needed when off-lead.

Three car parks are within a short walk to the beach. A small tarmac pay and display car park is directly in front of the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre. Two privately owned car parks are open during peak periods. Charges apply. The car park postcode is DT6 6LR.

Facilities

Toilets are located behind the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre. Dog waste bins are available. There are no showers or lifeguards. A cafe/kiosk is on-site or very nearby.

Accessibility

Accessible toilet with RADAR key available. Wheelchair-friendly promenade and access to a grassy picnic area with benches across a wooden bridge. Suitable for elderly or less mobile dogs on the promenade.
